Development CenterOUR VISION The main vision of the Center is to be an alternative outlet to middle/ high school aged children. It will be an outlet for adolescent to have the opportunity to express their characters’/ personality in their own diverse and unique way without judgment. A secondary vision, if and only if, the adolescents express need is to, meet Jesus Christ and walk with him through their own creative and diverse way (if they would like). The camp/center will be seen as a “get away” spot away from the hum-drums and pressure of society. OUR MISSION The Youth Center is to be seen as an arena for youthful bliss. At the center young people will be given the opportunity to express their faith, personality, and talents in an unthreatening atmosphere whether they are Christian or not. OUR PHILOSOPHY: (Why do we do what we do?) The Center is a place where “Iron sharpens iron (proverbs 27:17);” we believe people change people, programs do not change people. Young men and women are inspired and motivated when they see their peers taking leadership roles, control in their lives, and making small decision that will make tremendous impact on their future. They are especially inspired when they see young adults that once sat in their seats aspire to greatness and adults alike, live in prominence. We want to increase mentoring relationships for local youth to provide emotional support and guidance that fosters leadership, spiritual, mental, and emotional growth. We want to engage youth in challenging learning experiences that promote academic achievement beyond the current 6th to 12th grade education. Through these programs we hope to promote community service and civic pride amongst participating youth. Most of all, we know that what we do in the center/camp will reduce negative youth outcomes in local communities; including teenage pregnancy, gang violence, high school dropout, and drug usage. |
