CENTER FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
The Center for Youth Development will train and provide leadership to an increasing number of individuals, groups and teams that are discipling youth and solving problems that interfere with their healthy development. The programs are: Youth-Centered The Center will engage young people's diverse talents, skills, and interests and will build on their strengths and involve them in planning and decision-making. Knowledge-Centered. The Center will help develop a range of life skills through tutoring and other activities. Youths will discover that learning is a reason to be involved, whether in sports, clubs, arts, or community service. The Center will provide opportunities for youths to connect with a wide array of adult and peer mentors. Care-Centered. The Center will provide a family-like environment, where youths can feel safe and build trusting relationships. Goals. Provide training for our young people through the School of Leaders over a period of 12 days: eight days of classes and four days of preparation for presentation. Encourage all those trained in the School of Leaders to establish a Christian Club in their school if there is none or become an integral part of the Christian Club if one exists. Provide mentors for young people. Network with at least 7 other churches within the Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC Metropolitan area. Provide tutoring services for middle and high school students at the youth center. |
